Ministry of Health rejects reported Finance Ministry monitoring findings on Covid-19 funds

Corruption & Abuse of Office Disputed Uganda (national) 1 Nov 2020 Severity: 1/5

The Ministry of Health issued a statement disputing a Saturday Vision article, based on a draft Budget Monitoring and Accountability Unit report, about its use of Covid-19 funds and equipment. The ministry said it had received UGX 119bn in supplementary funding by June 2020, not the UGX 766bn reported, defended its procurement of masks, tents and oxygen plants, and said it had protested to the Finance Ministry's Permanent Secretary about how the monitoring was done.

A national event, not tied to one district.

Disputed: The Saturday Vision article citing a BMAU draft report said the ministry received UGX 766bn for Covid-19, while the Ministry of Health says it received UGX 119bn and the rest were off-budget partner commitments.
