The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance launched a five-year National Data Strategy meant to integrate how government bodies collect, store and share data, ahead of a planned National AI Strategy. Permanent Secretary Dr Aminah Zawedde said at the launch that the government currently has data for 36 per cent of NDP IV indicators and aims to reach 80 per cent within five years. According to the Daily Monitor, the strategy includes personal-data safeguards in line with the Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019, and was developed with support from UN Global Pulse Uganda and UNDP.
