The Moneylenders Association of Uganda announced at its 2025 annual general meeting in Kampala that it had filed a lawsuit challenging the 2.8% monthly interest ceiling set by the Uganda Microfinance Regulatory Authority, the Nile Post reported. The association said the cap undermines private enterprise and would push lenders out of business, and said it would seek an injunction pending judicial review.

A national event, not tied to one district.
