According to a State House statement reported by Xinhua via The Independent, President Museveni directed the Minister of Works and Transport to appoint Girma Wake, former Ethiopian Airlines chief, as consultant and acting CEO of Uganda Airlines until a substantive chief is found in July. The statement said Wake is to address management weaknesses at the national carrier; he succeeds Jenifer Bamuturaki, who resigned the previous month.
