Museveni directs review of policy requiring medical students to complete internship before graduating

President Yoweri Museveni said on social media that he had directed that the policy requiring medical students to complete a one-year internship before receiving their degree be corrected, after meeting Uganda Medical Association representatives at State House Entebbe the previous day. The Daily Monitor reports that the policy had been criticised by students, interns and medical associations, while the Health Ministry's permanent secretary has said enough consultation was carried out. Museveni also said interns' allowances would be subject to further consultation.
