In a directive to the Head of Public Service, President Museveni cited a report by Maj Gen Kahinda Otafiire alleging that Ministry of Internal Affairs officials, through a middleman, demanded bribes before paying a CCTV maintenance contractor from UGX 31.37 billion released by the Finance ministry. According to NTV, he sent Lt Gen Joseph Musanyufu and Aggrey Wunyi on six months' forced leave, ordered AIGP Felix Baryamwitsaki to step aside, and directed the appointment of an acting Permanent Secretary while the State House Anti-Corruption Unit investigates. He also directed that the alleged middleman be prosecuted if evidence suffices and that the contractor be paid.
