Muslim leaders and NUP oppose Sovereignty Bill before parliamentary joint committee

According to the Daily Monitor, Muslim leaders led by Iddi Kasozi appeared before the joint committee and said the Bill's funding cap and registration rules would restrict religious practice, in breach of Article 29 of the Constitution. NUP secretary general David Lewis Rubongoya told the committee the Bill would cut the party off from funding, including money from Ugandans in the diaspora. The paper also reports that outgoing Mawokota North MP Yusuf Nsibambi spoke in support of the Bill.
