NEMA demolishes perimeter wall at Ddungu Resort Beach in Lake Victoria protection zone

Environmental Issues Single source Uganda (national) 17 Jul 2026 Severity: 2/5

The National Environment Management Authority demolished a perimeter wall that extended about 100 metres into Lake Victoria at Ddungu Resort Beach in Mulungu, according to ChimpReports. NEMA said the wall and beach developments were built in the protected lakeshore zone without environmental approval, and that it acted after the developer failed to comply with a restoration order issued in April.

A national event, not tied to one district.
