The NRM Parliamentary Caucus endorsed the Protection of Sovereignty Bill 2025, which according to Government Chief Whip David Hamson Obua seeks to regulate foreign funds and other external influences entering Uganda, The Independent reports. Opposition politicians and civil society leaders, including Sarah Bireete of the Centre for Constitutional Governance, said the bill could restrict the funding and operating space of NGOs.
