NUP releases parliamentary flagbearer results, dropping several sitting MPs

The National Unity Platform concluded its parliamentary flagbearer selection, which began on 1 June, with the release of results, according to the Daily Monitor. Incumbents including Allan Ssewanyana, Medard Ssegona, Joyce Bagala and Aloysius Mukasa were not selected; the paper attributes this to performance concerns. A party election official said candidates were assessed 60 percent on ground strength and 40 percent on vetting.
