NURP founding members file notice of appeal against High Court ruling in NUP takeover case

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Uganda (national) 4 Nov 2020 Severity: 1/5

Two founding members of the National Unity Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP), Difas Basile and Hassan Twaha, filed a notice of appeal against Justice Musa Ssekaana's ruling that dismissed their case against Robert Kyagulanyi and other NUP leaders, according to The Independent. They had alleged that the party was taken over and renamed NUP without following procedure; the judge dismissed the application as filed by the wrong procedure and out of time and awarded costs to the respondents. Through their lawyers, the applicants said they were dissatisfied with the entire ruling and requested certified copies of the proceedings.

A national event, not tied to one district.
