Parliament approves $99.56 million IFAD loan for Resilient Livestock Value Chain Project

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 9 Sep 2025 Severity: 1/5

Parliament approved the government's request to borrow about Shs353 billion from the International Fund for Agricultural Development to fund a livestock project in cattle-corridor districts, the Daily Monitor reports. State Finance Minister Henry Musasizi described the terms as concessional, while opposition MPs including Muwanga Kivumbi and Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda objected to spending on vehicles and consultancies and to rising debt. The paper notes few MPs were present.

A national event, not tied to one district.
