According to Nile Post, Parliament, chaired by Speaker Anita Among, approved a Shs 8.104 trillion supplementary budget in three schedules, most of the third schedule going to the Electoral Commission. Opposition MPs led by Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda and Leader of the Opposition Joel Ssenyonyi rejected it, alleging the figures were altered from Shs 6.255 trillion without explanation and questioning the EC's planned purchase of biometric voter verification machines; Minister of State for Finance Amos Lugoloobi defended the allocations.
