Parliament approves Shs84.391 trillion national budget for 2026/27

Parliament, in a plenary chaired by Speaker Anita Among, passed a Shs84.391 trillion budget for the 2026/27 financial year, according to URN, with about Shs33.6 trillion earmarked for debt servicing. A minority report led by MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda said late changes introduced through a corrigendum lacked supporting documents required by the Public Finance Management Act, while Finance State Minister Henry Musasizi defended the budget's priorities.
