Parliament approves waiver of Shs8.732bn tax arrears owed by Fresh Cuts Uganda Limited

Parliament approved a motion by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi to waive Shs8.732 billion in tax arrears owed by Fresh Cuts Uganda Limited, which he said was justified by the company's financial hardship and worsening negative net worth. Shadow finance minister Gyaviira Ssebina Lubowa presented a minority report opposing the waiver, arguing the company still holds assets from which tax could be recovered. Tororo Municipality MP Shyam Jay Tanna supported the relief.
