The Uganda Parliamentary Press Association (UPPA) announced that Parliament had restored the press gallery as a working space for reporters, a facility withdrawn during the 11th Parliament. UPPA President Samuel Ibanda Mugabi said the decision followed a meeting with Speaker Jacob Oboth-Oboth and took effect with the Tuesday plenary sitting. UPPA welcomed the move as a step towards independent coverage of the House.
