Parliament's Budget Committee declines to approve Shs336.8bn supplementary request for 9 million radios

MPs on Parliament's Budget Committee said after a closed-door meeting on Wednesday that the committee declined to approve a Shs336.8 billion supplementary request to buy 9 million radios for distance learning, The Independent reports. MPs Richard Okoth Othieno and Charles Illukor said the government had not shown a source of funding, and Illukor called the procurement suspicious; committee chair Amos Lugoloobi declined to comment ahead of presenting the report to Parliament.
