Petition filed in Fort Portal High Court seeking to halt Tooro king coronation

Justice & Court Rulings Verified Uganda (national) Sep 2026 (day not reported) Severity: 1/5

Two Batooro residents and the organisation Walezi Wa Katiba applied to the Fort Portal High Court for an interim order to stop the coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I as King of Tooro, scheduled for 29 September 2026. According to the Daily Monitor, the applicants argue in their main suit that his selection contradicted a written Will left by the late King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

A national event, not tied to one district.
