Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja launched a resettlement drive in Namisindwa District under which households in landslide-prone areas of Bugisu Sub-region are to receive Shs18m each to relocate, according to the Daily Monitor. She said 10 villages in 10 sub-counties had been identified to start with; the paper reported that the government had allocated Shs62b and that an Office of the Prime Minister assessment found more than 13,000 people living in landslide-prone areas. Some survivors and beneficiaries told the paper the payment was too little to buy land and build a house.
