Police announce exemptions and movement restrictions for National Cleaning Day

Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 24 Aug 2026 Severity: 1/5

Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke told journalists that patients, medical personnel, emergency vehicles, cross-border buses on their routes, foreign tourists, journalists and airport travellers would be exempted from the second National Cleaning Day on 29 August, the Daily Monitor reported. He said others would not be allowed to move between 7am and 10am, and that exemptions would require proof such as documents. Police said the guidance followed complaints that people were stopped and made to take part in the first cleaning day.

A national event, not tied to one district.
