President Museveni declares polling day and the following day public holidays for the 2026 general election

According to the Daily Monitor, President Museveni issued a statutory instrument under the Public Holidays Act declaring polling day (Thursday) and the following Friday public holidays. The President said the aim was to promote broad participation in the presidential and parliamentary elections.
