President Museveni directs ministries to support private airport project at Nyakyisharara aerodrome near Mbarara

In a letter dated 11 February 2026 to Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, President Museveni directed government departments to help Base Seven Company develop a large privately financed airport complex at the Nyakyisharara government aerodrome near Mbarara City. According to ChimpReports, the letter describes a build-operate-transfer arrangement, two 5.5-kilometre runways and use of government land plus land bought from nearby owners. Ministries including Works and Transport, Lands and Finance and the Attorney General's chambers were told to coordinate implementation.
