President Museveni issues statement defending Stephen Nuwagaba as a torture survivor and criticising Andrew Mwenda

In a statement released on Monday, President Museveni said Stephen Nuwagaba had come to him after being tortured and maimed by elements in the security services, and that he had sent him for treatment in Uganda and abroad. He said some of those accused were facing court proceedings and that he had started a quiet investigation, accused journalist Andrew Mwenda of diverting attention from criminality in the security agencies, and condemned torture by security forces, according to ChimpReports.
