President Museveni says he has never ordered torture and warns security forces against abuses

In a Monday statement replying to journalist Andrew Mwenda, President Yoweri Museveni denied ever torturing or ordering the torture of opponents and said security forces must not commit crimes such as torture or extra-judicial killings. According to the Daily Monitor, the statement followed the circulation of a video said to show missing activist Sam Mugumya and a demand by the Uganda Law Society president to the Security Minister.
