President Museveni takes over East African Community chair from Kenya's President Ruto in Arusha

According to the Daily Monitor, President Museveni took over the one-year chairmanship of the East African Community from Kenyan President William Ruto at a summit in Arusha, Tanzania, and named unity and regional security as his priorities. The heads of state's joint communiqué called for a ceasefire in eastern DRC, and the summit waived half of partner states' arrears and moved EALA members' salaries to national legislatures.
