Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 2 Oct 2025 Severity: 2/5

Public Service Minister Muruli Mukasa told the media the strike by teachers was illegal and directed them to resume work within one week or be treated as having abandoned duty, according to the Daily Monitor. He said no certificate of dispute had been issued before the strike and that government planned a phased pay rise for humanities teachers in 2026/2027. Unatu and the Uganda Local Government Workers' Union rejected the ultimatum and said the strike would continue.

A national event, not tied to one district.
