Public Service Minister tells parliamentary committee agency rationalisation saved Shs773.3 billion

Minister of Public Service Muruli Mukasa told Parliament's Committee on Public Service and Local Government that the rationalisation of government agencies (RAPEX) had saved Shs773.3 billion and that 90 per cent of staff of 40 rationalised agencies had been absorbed into the mainstream public service. The ministry also tabled a list of entities to be merged or mainstreamed in 2026/2027, including the Uganda Human Rights Commission and NITA-U. Wakiso Woman MP Ethel Naluyima said the report did not adequately address grievances of affected staff.
