According to the Daily Monitor, Rakai District returning officer Deborah Asiimwe declared Samuel Kaggwa Ssekamwa winner of the district chairperson race late on 22 January. Challenger Alexander Mackay Muhinda said the announced turnout at polling stations he monitored did not match what he saw and that his agents' tallies differed from the results; Mr Ssekamwa said the election was free and fair. None of the aggrieved candidates said they would go to court.
