Rwanda gazettes renunciation of citizenship by rejected Ugandan minister nominee Lawrence Muganga

According to ChimpReports, a notice in Rwanda's Official Gazette dated 24 July 2026 by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration states that Dr Lawrence Muganga has voluntarily renounced Rwandan nationality. Muganga's nomination as Uganda's State Minister for Internal Affairs had been rejected by Parliament's Appointments Committee on grounds of multiple citizenship. The outlet reports that his Canadian citizenship renunciation remains outstanding, and that Muganga has described the matter as a political witch-hunt.
