Speaker Oboth-Oboth directs suspension of charcoal ban enforcement in northern Uganda pending review

According to the Daily Monitor, Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oboth-Oboth directed that enforcement of the ban on commercial charcoal production in northern Uganda be suspended. The directive followed concerns raised by the Leader of the Opposition that households relying on charcoal and firewood had no affordable alternatives, and the Speaker said the government should first address the practical challenges of enforcement.
