Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 7 Oct 2026 Severity: 1/5

Minister of State for Animal Industry Bright Rwamirama said some veterinary extension workers were allegedly selling government-procured Foot-and-Mouth Disease vaccines and directed that any found doing so be arrested and prosecuted, and that district veterinary officers whose vaccines expire in store be held accountable. He spoke at a MAAIF meeting with local government leaders and agricultural officials. At the same meeting, Kiruhura Deputy RDC Moses Mwesigye said no cattle would move in his district without a district veterinary officer's letter.

A national event, not tied to one district.
