Justice & Court Rulings Verified Uganda (national) 26 Feb 2026 Severity: 5/5

According to The Independent, a nine-justice Supreme Court panel led by Chief Justice Flavian Zeija unanimously allowed former presidential candidate Robert Kasibante to withdraw his petition against the January 2026 presidential election, with the effect that President Museveni is deemed duly elected. The majority ordered each party to bear its own costs, while Justice Christopher Izama Madrama dissented on costs only. Kasibante had applied to withdraw on 5 February 2026, saying he could not afford the forensic audit needed to prove his case.
