Supreme Court upholds cut in Crane Bank case legal costs owed by Bank of Uganda to Sudhir and Meera

Justice & Court Rulings Single source Uganda (national) Date not reported · first reported 21 Oct 2025 Severity: 1/5

A Supreme Court panel led by Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny-Dollo upheld a reduction of instruction fees awarded to Sudhir Ruparelia and Meera Investments from Shs45.8 billion to Shs500 million each, finding the Registrar's original award excessive, according to ChimpReports. The court held that the Bank of Uganda, not Crane Bank in receivership, must pay the costs, totalling Shs1 billion; Justice Stephen Musota partly dissented, favouring a higher award.

A national event, not tied to one district.
