Theft suspect who escaped police custody dies after mob assault in Lwenyange village, Kassanda

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson Lameck Kigozi said a 30-year-old burglary and theft suspect escaped from Manyogaseka police station while being escorted to the toilet and was intercepted and beaten by a mob in Lwenyange village. Police said an officer retrieved him badly injured and he was pronounced dead at Kyansaswa health centre III; police have opened investigations into the escape and the assault.
