Trade minister directs UNBS executive director James Kasigwa to take leave pending probe into allegations

Trade Minister Francis Mwebesa wrote to UNBS Executive Director James Kasigwa directing him to take 30 working days of annual leave from 15 October 2025, according to a letter seen by the Daily Monitor. The letter said the National Standards Council had been tasked to assess allegations against Mr Kasigwa, including insubordination, misconduct, mismanagement and corruption.
