UBOS says ICT ministry's National Data Strategy is illegal and encroaches on its statutory mandate

The Uganda Bureau of Statistics said in a press statement that the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance has no legal authority over national statistics and described the ministry's National Data Strategy as illegal, the Daily Monitor reports. UBOS said the UBOS Act, 1998 vests the collection, coordination and dissemination of official statistics in the bureau.
