Policy & Legislation Verified Uganda (national) 13 Oct 2026 Severity: 2/5

UCC Executive Director Nyombi Thembo told journalists at the commission's headquarters that unlicensed public WiFi hotspot operators had seven days to close voluntarily or face enforcement, including removal of installations and seizure of equipment. The commission said it estimates about 4,000 such operators and is working with URA to restrict equipment imports, while offering licensing routes for operators who want to become legal.

A national event, not tied to one district.
