UCC orders internet providers to block voter-lookup website at Electoral Commission's request

The Uganda Communications Commission said in a public notice that it had directed telecom operators and internet service providers to block an 'unauthorised website' offering voter location services, following a request from the Electoral Commission. ChimpReports understands the site was www.registry.ugtally.com, operated by an entity called FANON, whose operators say they are non-partisan and doing civic education. The EC separately warned the public against using the site, saying it was not accredited.
