In a letter dated 15 July, the Uganda Law Society asked the High Court to permit live streaming of the treason trial of Kizza Besigye and co-accused, arguing that public access promotes transparency and confidence in justice. ULS vice-president Anthony Asiimwe said the society had received public complaints alleging judicial misconduct in the handling of the case before Justice Emmanuel Baguma, and that journalists had complained of being denied access to the proceedings.
