In a statement signed on 21 December 2025, Uganda Law Society president Isaac Ssemakadde announced that the society was ending its political neutrality and endorsing Robert Kyagulanyi for president, along with NUP and PFF candidates and other named candidates. Ssemakadde said the decision responded to what he described as militarisation, repression and the capture of state institutions, including the judiciary.
