In a statement issued through his spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said he was concerned over reports of violence and deaths following protests in Kampala. He called on Ugandan authorities to hold perpetrators of human rights violations accountable and release anyone arbitrarily arrested, and urged security forces and political actors to refrain from violence.
