UPC disciplinary committee of Akena faction suspends Denis Adim Enap and recommends his dismissal

Civic Space & Media Freedom Disputed Uganda (national) 17 Sep 2026 Severity: 1/5

The Daily Monitor reports that the UPC National Disciplinary Committee, chaired by Paul Peter Okello, suspended Denis Adim Enap from the party and recommended that the National Council dismiss him, finding him liable for breaching the party constitution and 15 regulations, including using the party name and title of president. Enap, who did not appear before the committee, said it has no mandate and is acting in contempt of a High Court ruling on the UPC leadership.

A national event, not tied to one district.

Disputed: The committee says Enap breached the party constitution; Enap says the committee's tenure has expired and its actions defy a High Court ruling.
