UPDF 155 Marine Battalion arrests 28 Kenyan fishers on Lake Victoria over illegal fishing

According to the Daily Monitor, the UPDF's 155 Marine Battalion arrested 28 Kenyan fishers during a night operation on Lake Victoria, accusing them of entering Ugandan waters and catching mukene with prohibited gear. Some of the fishers said they did not know they had crossed the border because it has no visible markers. Namayingo Resident District Commissioner Emmy Mitala ordered their release, citing good relations within the EAC, and directed that their boats be returned without the banned gear.
