The UPDF announced, in a statement by Director of Defence Public Information Maj Gen Felix Kulayigye, that it will recruit 600 Local Defence Personnel, 100 from each of Kabarole, Kamwenge, Bunyangabo, Kasese, Bundibugyo and Ntoroko districts, between 10 and 15 November 2025. According to ChimpReports, the drive is presented as part of efforts to strengthen community security along the border with the DR Congo.
