In a statement reported by the Daily Monitor, Chris Magezi, acting director of defence public information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, said the UPDF operation in South Sudan is legitimate, having been invited by the South Sudanese government and approved by Uganda's Parliament. The statement said the UPDF has never targeted civilians, called the UN commission's report incomplete and described media coverage of it as biased.
