UPDF spokesperson Brig Flavia Byekwaso told ChimpReports that the army's deployment and use of live bullets during the 18 November riots was justified and that officers fired in self-defence. She said officers who acted recklessly would be investigated and prosecuted individually, and urged candidates to respect Electoral Commission guidelines.
