URSB Registrar General Kainobwisho sent on forced leave and acting head appointed amid IGG probe

Justice Minister Norbert Mao issued a notice dated 12 August 2026 sending URSB Registrar General Mercy Kainobwisho on forced leave and appointing Deputy Registrar General Mustapher Ntale as acting head, who took office on 17 August, according to the Daily Monitor. The Inspector General of Government directed the minister to interdict Kainobwisho and three other senior URSB officials while investigations into alleged financial mismanagement and abuse of office proceed, and to halt a planned staff training at NALI Kyankwanzi.
