US Senate committee chair rejects Muhoozi apology, urges review of ties

Daily Monitor reported that US Senator Jim Risch, chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said on X on 30 January 2026 that Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba had crossed a red line and that the US should reassess its security partnership with Uganda, including sanctions. This followed Muhoozi's deletion of posts about the US Embassy and his apology.
