US State Department 2026 Trafficking in Persons report keeps Uganda on Tier 2

International Actions Verified Uganda (national) 2026 (month not reported) Severity: 1/5

The U.S. Department of State's 2026 Trafficking in Persons report kept Uganda on Tier 2, saying the government does not fully meet minimum standards but showed increasing efforts, including more convictions of traffickers, according to the Daily Monitor. The report said Uganda investigated fewer cases, lacked victim-witness protection policies and had not approved its draft National Action Plan, and cited reports of official complicity.

A national event, not tied to one district.
