Works Minister Katumba Wamala chairs vehicle registration meeting; officials blame clearing agents for delays

Works and Transport Minister Edward Katumba Wamala chaired a stakeholder meeting with vehicle dealers, clearing agents, URA and the Intelligent Transport Monitoring System on vehicle registration and digital number plates, ChimpReports reports. Commissioner Winstone Katushabe said most vehicles are processed within eight hours and blamed clearing agents for deliberate delays, and the meeting heard that more than 1,338 vehicles had been pending for over two months. According to sources, the government is considering cutting out agents through direct use of the online registration portal.
